Turning our Experiences Inside Out:

A New Dialogue Board - Getting to
Work

Check our newest discussion topic: How has
transportation to and from work affected your job
choice and career development? How are you resolving
this "getting to work" issue?

"Turning our Experiences Inside Out"
goes beyond just talking to ourselves. It's the idea
generator for a solution-focused dialogue between job
seekers with disabilities and potential employers.

"Turning our Experiences Inside Out" is
a gathering place where you, an eSight member, can
share with others your workplace experiences.

Here is a relaxed community where you come to chuckle,
complain, commend -- and learn -- because that's when
identifying the really tough issues of working with a
disability (and resolving them) begin to take shape.

But participating in "Turning our Experiences
Inside Out"
gives you a unique opportunity to
go three steps beyond the typical online discussions
where participants just talk among themselves. This
"Getting to Work" dialogue board is part of eSight's
new initiative to help you:

  1. Focus on your workplace experiences in a safe,
congenial, facilitated forum about topics you help
    select.

  2. Identify issues both employees and employers
must address if we are to increase employment for
those of us within the visually impaired and
    physically disabled communities.

  3. Build the framework for holding small-group chats
between teams of employees and employers about
what works best in addressing those issues.

So add your thoughts to "Turning our
Experiences Inside Out:"
What job seekers
really feel about key disability issues in the
workplace. It's a meeting place for helping job
seekers and potential employers understand one
another.

Here's how to join the conversation. login in to
eSight at http://www.esightcareers.net.
Then from the Main Menu select the link to Members' Hub.
Here you will find "Turning our Experiences Inside
Out
". Or E-mail your thoughts directly to us
at
and we'll post them for you. Please put the words
"My experience" in the subject line.

Also -- be sure to complete this week's new
questionnaire about what topics you would like to
discuss on Turning our Experiences Inside
Out
. Select Members' Hub on the Main Menu,
then Turning our Experiences Inside Out and
then eSight Questionnaire: Which issue would you like
to discuss?

Hope to hear from you soon.

Our Search for eSight Model Employers:

We Need Your Submission, Referral

Employers who successfully respond to our
questionnaire about their initiatives to recruit,
hire, accommodate and promote employees with
disabilities can now be included in an exclusive,
searchable eSight Careers NetworkTM database
available to eSight members.

If you're an employer, we need your submission
so we can learn about your successful initiative
to include employees with disabilities in your
organization. If you're an employee or job
seeker, we need your referrals for employers
who have demonstrated outstanding inclusion
initiatives for employees with disabilities.

Starting in October, 2001, eSight's first anniversary,
we will feature noteworthy diversity initiatives from
the Model Employers who have completed an application.
October is also National Disability Employment
Awareness Month in the United States, and eSight will
also take that opportunity to highlight its Model
Employers.

If you're an employer, you can complete our online
application form required for consideration as an
eSight Model Employer. Access the form in eSight's
Employer Connection at: http://esight.org/index.cfm?PriorityCode=eme.
Here you will find "eSight Application Form: Are you
an eSight Model Employer?"

Job seekers and employees can submit company
nominations in e-mail directly to us at
.
Please include the word "nomination" in the subject
line of your e-mail message.
